HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 5 episodes leaks online via torrent downloads before its official premiere release

The online pirates have managed to successfully punch at the American premium cable and satellite television network HBO on their face! That’s exactly what happened when the first four episodes of the Game of Thrones Season 5 have massively leaked over the worldwide web just a couple of days ago. That said, it made popular American fantasy drama television series’ available in 170 countries, which is slated to officially be premiered on Sunday night in the United States.

According to TorrentFreak, the first four episodes of the leaked Game of Thrones Season 5 were first seen on IPT, a private torrent tracker. It didn’t take long before these episodes made their way to other popular torrents websites like KickAss and The Pirate Bay, and has been downloaded more than 100,000 times during the first three hours that it has been uploaded and made available to the public.

The sheer number of HBO’s Game of Thrones fans were eager to download and watch the leaked episodes before its official premiere isn’t at that surprising, since the Game of Thrones has already earned the title as the world’s most pirated series of all do date and even before these episodes were leaked online.

An HBO spokesperson confirmed that the leaked Game of Thrones Season 5 episodes are indeed legit, and that it “originated from within a group approved by HBO to receive them.” That said, it seems to back up TorrentFreak’s informant’s claim that the leaked episodes were early copies that were sent to the press and media outlets for review purposes.
