Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has officially filed a divorce from husband Brad Pitt. According to the court documents, they reportedly separated on September 15, a couple of years and one month after Jolie and Pitt married back in August 2014.
Angelina Jolie is seeking full custody of their six children and asking before the court to grant Brad Pitt just a visitation rights. Moreover, Jolie is also asking the court to keep “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects” as well as any earnings from after the date of their separation and other separate assets to be determined later in the court. Jolie is not asking for spousal support.
There are lready rumors and speculations that a custody battle may ensue over their six children. “Other than the fame of the people involved, this is like so many other divorces,” the source close to the situation said.
“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Brad Pitt stated Tuesday in a statement. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time,” he added.
“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest to protect her children,” Geyer Kosinski, Angelina Jolie’s manager said in a press statement on Tuesday. “She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
According to the Hollywood celebrity tabloid website TMZ.com, which first reported the story, the actor and director cited irreconcilable differences as the cause for the breakup. Jolie and Pitt originally met on the set of the action comedy film Mr and Mrs Smith, and they have been together since 2005 and married in August 2014.
