MANILA – The Philippines is one of the fastest growing countries across the globe in terms of trade industries as well as in technology field. Moreover, Philippines named as the selfie capital in world, because of the growing numbers of Filipinos who are in social media.

Evolution, online engagement, convergence, computing, hyper-connectivity – these, and amongst other concepts, emerging at the future of the media business in the country will be addressed by key stakeholders and personalities at the very first Future of Media event on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 at the TechPortal, University of the Philippines-Ayala campus, Commonwealth Avenue TechnoHub in Quezon City.

The Future of Media is designed as a collaborative conference event that will tackle present and future practices and strategies in the media that will benefit the public that is increasingly adapting to a highly-mobile, social, and online lifestyle.


The forum is expected to cover four categories: Political and Social Advocacy, Technology, Lifestyle, and Digital Marketing. Forum participants are expected to join the discussions and give their own viewpoints via social networks. Their insights will be curated, discussed, and validated by the end of the day as a generous take-away for everyone who joined.

The said forum will feature prominent names from the industry such as Rappler’s CEO Maria Ressa, who is the keynote speaker; celebrity netizens Jim Paredes, Tim Yap, RJ Ledesma, Mae Paner, and Erwan Heussaff; journalists Pia Hontiveros-Pagkalinawan, Malou Mangahas, Inday Varona, JV Rufino, Art Samaniego, and Tony Velasquez; and digital media forerunners Carlo Ople, Ros Juan, Amor Maclang, Janette Toral, and Yves Gonzales.

Bloggers Noemi Lardizabal-Dado and Jane Uymatiao will act as panel moderators while WhenInManila’s Vince Golangco will be the event’s master host. The aforementioned event is organized by Vibal Group, Philippine Online Chronicles, and Blog Watch; and co-presented by Smart Communications, Philippine Long-Distance Telephony, and Acer Inc.
